We ate lychees last night as we sat in front of the tv. What fantastic white pulp beneath the prickly skin. Like sweet, perfumed eyeballs with a smooth stone in the centre. I wonder if you bit into an eyeball would you enounter a stone? Or would it be full of seeds like a tomato? Or perhaps the pupil would burst like a yolk. I’d like a jar of peeled lychees. Like pickled eggs, like eyes.

This seems like good potential content for fiction or poetry!
eek!
I miss eating lychees (I never seen them sold in the US). They are quite delicious.
You could probably find a place that serves eyeballs if you really wanted to try them.
I’ve always loved lychees. And you’re right, they appear just like eyeballs though I doni’t think eyeballs would have the same texture. It’s a shame we can’t get them fresh here in the states.
I hate lychees. I once went skinny dipping and when we started for the shore that’s when we spotted them all over us. And I mean they were all over. Fuck. I hate lychees.
I’m not sure what the hell a lychee is… but I’m reasonably sure I’d probably not like it if it were like an eyeball.
traditionally i have always overdosed on lichis over the festive and summer months… i remember especially enjoying smuggling them into assembly and as they preached i would deconstuct it in my mouth.. and then explode the eyeball…. oh god it felt so delightfully sinister…
@scrogers - Damn the blood-sucking fruit.
i don’t like leeches. (the worm-like one and the human kind)
haha. i’ve never had a lychee. but it sounds kind of grossss.
What the heck is a lychee? Grodie to the max!!!
Sounds something like okra, which is equally GROSS.
